SJC Brooklyn Orientation
Dear New Student:
On behalf of the entire St. Joseph’s College community, I am writing to invite you to attend our Investiture ceremony to be held on Thursday September 1, at 6 p.m. in the Hill Center.
This important ceremony marks the beginning of your education at St. Joseph’s College. In our society, we use rituals to signal the significance of important moments. Entering college is such a moment. At this academic event, we symbolize the beginning of your education at St. Joseph’s College by investing, or clothing, all members of the Class of 2020 and new transfer students in the traditional academic cap and gown. You may ask why you are wearing graduation regalia at the beginning of your education? The answer is simple: it signifies the potential we believe each and every one of you possesses. The faculty and administration of the College will join me on September 1 to welcome you formally into our academic community.
Because caps and gowns are worn for Investiture, you must go to the following website by Friday, July 22 to place your order. The cost of purchasing the cap and gown is included in the Orientation fee, which is part of your bill. You may keep this academic attire and use it again at the time of your graduation from college. You will be able to pick up the cap and gown at Orientation on August 25.
Go to: collegegrad.herffjones.com and follow these steps:
- Type in “St. Joseph’s College” and Select “St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn” on the next screen. Click “continue.”
- On the green bar, click on “Cap and Gown” and continue.
- Fill in/click on “Student Information” and add to cart. Proceed to checkout.
- Fill in all “Ordered by Information” and continue through to “Complete Order” where you will see your order number which you may want to print.
All members of the Class of 2020 and new transfer students are required to be present at this important ceremony to celebrate your formal induction into the academic community of St. Joseph’s College. In August, your family will receive an invitation to a Parent Orientation which will be held prior to the Investiture Ceremony. We hope that they can join us if their schedules permit.
If you have any questions, please e-mail my assistant, Gail Moran (email@example.com) or call her at 718.940.5858. We are looking forward to seeing you for the Fall 2016 semester.
