Letter to Transfer Students

Dear New Transfer Student:

The Office of Student Life welcomes you to the St. Joseph’s College community! We are aware that you may have received previous letters about orientation and related activities, and this memo is being sent to you to clarify the information about some of the upcoming events.

Although there are two days of orientation activities, transfer students should plan to attend the academic orientation on Tuesday, September 3. At that time you will meet with your academic adviser and complete final registration procedures. Following advisement, the first SJC 200 class will meet with Mr. Matt Kubacki. Peer advisers will be there to provide information about student life and campus resources. ID photos, campus tours and the Tech Help Desk will be available.

Please note that transfer students are more than welcome to attend the student life orientation program on Thursday, August 29. The focus is on new freshmen but the group activities, information sessions and presentations may be of interest to you.  Please let us know if you would like to attend so that the orientation leaders are prepared to welcome you!

The letter you received from the academic dean, Dr. Greenwald, requests that you attend the Investiture of New Students on Monday, September 9, at 6 p.m. If you did not order academic attire online, there will be an opportunity to pick up a cap and gown at orientation.

If you have any questions, or you would like to register for the student life orientation on August 29, call the Office of Student Life at 718.940.5752 or email the Director of Student Activities, Jaime Vacca-Hoefner (jvacca@sjcny.edu). I look forward to meeting you at the Transfer Orientation on Tuesday, September 3.

Sincerely,

Sherrie Van Arnam
Assistant Dean of Students
